Amy Wicks-Horn - President - Amy is a Business Strategist and Entrepreneur. She has served as the Director of Annual Giving for UVA Children’s Hospital, the COO for the Piedmont Family YMCA and the Executive Director of the Virginia Discovery Museum. In addition to ACSOF she volunteers on the Albemarle County Parks Foundation and The Mid-Life Women’s Health Group with Joanne Pinkerton. Amy holds an honors degree in Political and Social Thought from The University of Virginia and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington. She has lived with her family in Albemarle County since 2002 and helped found the Albemarle County Sheriff’s Office Foundation.
Angus Arrington - Past President - Angus Arrington is a native son of Charlottesville and has contributed to the community and his country all his life. He studied Business at West Virginia University before joining the United States Marine Corp, where he served in the first Gulf War. He has been active in Real Estate since 2001 and received his license in 2008, when he became a busy local realtor and builder in the community and remains active in his local church. He is also active in the American Legion, past President of the Albemarle Sheriff’s Office Foundation, and a member of the FALCONS club and part of the Banquet Committee. Angus is an avid traveler, loyal UVA fan and a die-hard Atlanta Braves and Dallas Cowboys fan. He also owns Champion Show Dogs. He can be found exploring the local wineries or taking time to fish.
Pam Garrison - Secretary - Program Director and Radio Personality at Monticello Media. Pam was born and raised in Madison County and has served a leader and volunteer in Albemarle County for over 20 years. Whether anchoring the mornings on Your Country 99.7, serving with the Sheriff’s Foundation Board, or heading the project to launch The Oasis, Garrison is so much more than a local celebrity. She has guided non-profit marketing and recruitment efforts throughout our area connecting non-profits and community members to support countless missions that make our area stronger as a community and safer as a place to live.
Chris Karls - Originally from Wisconsin, Colonel Chris Karls, USAF (retired) has resided in Virginia since 2001 when he was assigned to Headquarters US Air Force and then the Joint Staff at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. He’s held several positions throughout the Air Force and Department of Defense (DOD) with three assignments overseas, culminating in his final position as Chief of Staff, Air Force Central Command- Forward at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. Since retirement in 2010, Chris served as a DOD contractor in Afghanistan and later at the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C., as well as positions with the University of Virginia and a local Charlottesville energy company. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Albemarle County Sheriff’s Office Foundation and the Board of Directors for Hope is Everything in Albemarle County. Chris served several years as a volunteer with Hospice of the Piedmont, performing recognition “pinning” ceremonies to hospice veterans via the We Honor Veterans Program, in-residence visits to patients, and inclement weather transportation for HOP employees. Chris enjoys fly fishing, woodworking, and skiing, and he and his wife, Helen, remain physically active with daily workouts, hikes, and bike rides. They currently reside in Keswick, VA, with their Australian Shepherd, Oakley.
Maria Jones - Originally from Vienna, Virginia, Maria has resided in Charlottesville since 2006. She has been a fundraiser for several organizations including American Heart Association where she served as the Silent Auction Chair in both Indianapolis and Charlottesville, Albemarle High School’s Drama club, and the Charlottesville Free Clinic. Maria has worked as a Department of Army civilian since 2010, and has almost 20 years of federal service. She has a BA from George Mason University in History and a Master’s Degree from Norwich University in International Diplomacy and Conflict Management. She enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren and long drives in the country with her husband Warren. In her free time, Maria enjoys quilting and crafting.
Nancy Hicks - Nancy was born and raised in Southern Albemarle County surrounded by her family. She went to Katherine Gibbs School of Business in Vienna, VA but soon realized after graduation that Southern Albemarle is where she wanted to be. Nancy worked in corporate America for two large corporations over her a 28-year stent but in 2016 decided to leave corporate America to pursue a different career which landed her at Monticello Media, a five-station radio and digital group in Charlottesville. Nancy is currently the Director of Local Sales. Nancy is active in her community and loves being surrounded by her family and friends. Nancy and her husband, Robbie, also a longtime Charlottesville area resident, went to rival local high schools and are deep rooted in the community. They have two sons (Ryan and Sam) and two four legged children (Pepper and Pinto). They currently reside on family land in Southern Albemarle.
Tripp Stewart - Raised on a horse farm in mid-state New York, Dr. Tripp Stewart attended Princeton University, where he was on the Varsity Fencing team and Rugby Team. Graduating with a degree in psychology (specializing in neuroscience), he pursued his veterinary degree at the University of Pennsylvania. He moved to Charlottesville in 2008 with his wife and 2 daughters. He was the prior owner and founder of Greenbrier Emergency Animal Hospital and is now a consultant for the clinic. Dr. Stewart has always been a supporter of first responders and has worked closely with police, fire and EMT in helping with animals caught in unfortunate situations.
